Privacy Policy

What Fake Text Maker keeps when you export a chat or use the AI writer, what never leaves your device, and how to get your data deleted.

Last updated: 2026-11-05

This policy explains what information faketextmaker.app ("Fake Text Maker", "we", "us") collects when you use https://faketextmaker.app, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.

The short version: screenshots and videos are made on your device, and your photos and videos never leave it. When you export a chat or use the AI writer, we keep an anonymous copy of the chat's text and settings for 30 days. We don't sell or share your information.

What stays on your device

  • Screenshots and videos are made in your browser.
  • Photos, avatars, background images and background videos you add are never uploaded.
  • Drafts are saved in your browser's storage only. Clearing your browser data deletes them, and Safari may delete them after 7 days without a visit.
  • Your browser creates a random anonymous ID and keeps it in local storage. It isn't linked to your name or any account.

What we keep when you export or use the AI writer

When you download, share or copy a screenshot, export a video, or generate a chat with the AI writer, we save a copy of that chat (a "snapshot") on our servers. A snapshot contains:

  • the chat's text and the contact name;
  • the display settings (light or dark, bubble color, status bar and similar), the chat app look, the editor mode and the export settings (image size, video length, layout and similar);
  • for the AI writer: the idea you typed, the length, style and names you picked, and the result or error;
  • your anonymous ID, stored only as a one-way hash;
  • the page you used, the time, your country (from our hosting provider, not from GPS), your device type and browser (not the full browser string), and how you first found the site (for example a search engine or a social app).

A snapshot does not contain your photos, avatars, background images or videos (only a note that an image was there and its size, or a video's length), your IP address, or your full browser user-agent string.

Before a snapshot is saved, phone numbers and email addresses in the text are replaced with [phone] and [email], and links are cut down to their domain name.

Why we keep it

To see how people actually use Fake Text Maker, find and fix problems, decide what to build next, and spot abuse such as attempts to make scam texts. Snapshots are not used for advertising.

Where the GDPR or a similar law applies, we rely on our legitimate interest in running, improving and protecting the service.

How long we keep it

Snapshots are deleted automatically after 30 days.

To stop the free AI writer and snapshot storage from being abused, we count requests per day. The counters use a hash of your IP address and anonymous ID that changes every day, and they are deleted within 2 days.

Who can see it

Only members of our team who have access to the admin area. We don't sell your information and we don't share it with anyone for their own purposes.

Service providers

These companies process data for us, only to run the service:

  • Cloudflare hosts the website and the database where snapshots are stored, and tells us which country a request comes from.
  • kie.ai runs the AI writer for us on Anthropic's Claude models. When you use it, the idea, length, style and names you enter are sent to kie.ai so the model can write the chat.
  • Plausible Analytics gives us cookie-free visitor statistics, such as page views and events like "a PNG was exported" with counts and settings. Chat text and names are never sent to it.

Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries.

Cookies and browser storage

  • We use no advertising cookies, and Plausible doesn't use cookies.
  • On your first visit, the site may set first-party cookies that remember how you found us (the referring site or app, campaign tags such as utm_source, the landing page and the device type) for up to 90 days. They contain no personal identifier and aren't shared with other sites.
  • If you visit from the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we ask first and set these cookies only if you accept. Anywhere else, you can turn them off with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page; rejecting deletes the ones already set. The site works the same either way.
  • Drafts, editor settings and your anonymous ID are kept in your browser's storage, as described above.
  • Staff who sign in to the admin area get a session cookie that keeps them signed in.

Deleting your data

  • Drafts never leave your browser. Delete them in the editor, or clear this site's data in your browser.
  • Snapshots: open the editor's settings, copy Your anonymous ID, and email it to support@faketextmaker.app with your request. We'll delete every snapshot linked to that ID within 30 days. You can also ask us what we hold for that ID. Snapshots are anonymous, so we can only find yours with that ID.

Depending on where you live, you may have other rights over your information, such as the right to object or to complain to a data protection authority. Email us and we'll help.

Children

Fake Text Maker is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.

Security

The site is served only over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access to snapshots is limited to authorized team members. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't put sensitive information such as passwords or real account numbers into a chat.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed. If we change what we collect, we'll update this page before the change takes effect.
